Well. I taught
on Thursday. I arrived early as always but the teacher arrived a Little bit
late. I began with the warm-up which was the whispering game. I divided the
group into two groups. I explained what the game was about and all the students
understood. The students were sitting down and I did not ask them to stand up
because the group was very large so they were sat. I asked the first person of
each group to pass to the front and I told them the sentence and then, they ran
to the next person who was next to and whispered the sentence. I liked the game
because the students were having fun and the person who had the marker was
desperate to know the sentence. At the end, the persons with the markers wrote
the sentence they got and let me tell you that those sentences that they wrote
on the board were totally different to the original I said. Jejeje!
After that, I began with the grammar part. I had to
teach about the countable & uncountable nous and so & such.
I think I did well in the explanation of those topics
and thanks God, the students understood me. =) with the countable and
uncountable nouns, I asked the students to take out a reading they had and we
read it twice. Then, I asked them to identify and underline the nouns and adjectives
that were on the reading. They did well identifying the nouns and adjectives and
then, I asked them to tell me what the one they found in the reading. After that,
I gave to each student one noun and I wrote on the board countable and
uncountable nouns. And then, I asked the students to go to the board and paste
the noun I gave to each of them either in countable or uncountable nouns. They did
well and then, I made a review of the topic and I gave some sentences as
examples.
Then, I explained about so & such and I wrote
sentences that contained those words. Also, I made two charts that contained adjectives
and adverbs. I pasted them on the board and I explained that those adverbs and adjectives
can be used with so & such. I gave time to the students to copy the examples
I wrote on the board and the list of adverbs and adjectives. Also, I asked to
the students if they had questions but they understood what I explained. =)
In the feedback, the teacher as always said that I had
some grammar mistakes when I was talking but anyway I always got not a great
score. But I'm glad that I did what I could even though the teacher does not
take my effort into consideration. =)
You prepared some cool activities and arrived early to the classroom (the teacher did the opposite). That's nice because you did your best and you were an example for her. Anyway your grade was not what you expected, but the important thing is that you know that you deserved more and you are learning the class of teacher you don't want to be in the future.
