Well, as all of us know we already began our
teaching and final teaching practice. But in my case, my first class was not as
good as I planned before. Well, actually I considered that the class was good
but to tell you the truth I don´t know what my tutor teacher thought about
because she didn´t give the feedback as the previous teachers did in the last
semester.
I began
the class with a warm-up called either yes or no. I asked the students to stand
up and I gave them some pieces of paper and I told them to imagine those small
pieces of paper were coins. So I told them that they had to go around the class
asking yes/no questions and the person who was answering didn´t have to say yes
or no because if that happened, the person who asked will take the coin from
the other person. So they were asking each other and they enjoyed the activity.
Then, I asked
them to work in small groups and I gave them a reading and I asked them to try
to order it because it was cut by paragraphs. I gave them some time and they
were working and after that, we checked and read it.
After that, I played the song “Have you ever seen
the rain”. When I was planning the class, I thought that the student may not
like the song because it is kind of old but when they listened at it, they
liked it. I gave them the lyric and they sang in the third time. And also, they
wanted to sing the song again but the time was at the limit. So I couldn’t play
it once more.
At the end, the feedback was not as
the ones I had before with the other teachers because the teacher just told me
that I had some grammar mistakes and that the warm-up was seven minutes and that
that time was good. And that was my feedback. When I saw the evaluation sheet I
got in shock because I got only low numbers and that´s going to affect my score
at the end and I know that the class was not too bad to get that score. But anyway,
I have to do better the next time.
Hey I like that warm up! I think I'm gonna use it later :-)
ReplyDeleteThat was not feedback for sure; the teacher just made a comment about your class, that simple. I know you did it great, but in some cases they do not appreciate your effort as a practitioner. Next time things will be better; you will see it.
