I'm back!!!!! =) now with intermediate!!!!

Hello people…. I´m back….=) well let me tell you that yesterday was my first time teaching in Intermediate. Before getting in to the classroom, I was a little bit nervous but when I got in the classroom everything changed. I felt more confident and anxious to begin the class.

I did a review of the previous class that it was about the modals because they studied that the last class. Then, I continued with some practice.

First, I read some sentences and the students corrected them orally. After that, I dictated those sentences and they wrote them and then they corrected the mistakes in the written form. Then, some of the students read the sentences correctly. Something that happened with this exercise was that I didn´t know that the students did not have the appendixes. So, when I began this activity, I asked them to take out their material and then the teacher told me that they didn´t have the appendixes. So, I didn´t expect that and what I dictated the sentences to the students and that took me more time but anyway I couldn´t stop doing the activity and I did it.

Then, after that activity, I had in pieces of paper some teenager´s problems, and I asked the students to work in pairs and talk about solutions, suggestions, advice, etc. and I gave them some minutes to talk and discuss the problem. After that, each pair read the problem and they said what they thought about it and shared it with the class and also, some other students participated by sharing their opinions about their classmates´ suggestions or solutions.

At the end, the teacher gave me the feedback and he said that I did well but I have to manage better the time because in the first activity I took more time than the expected but I told him that I thought that the students had the appendixes as in the other classes. But he said that I have to work in that and that I can do better in the next class.

  1. I know you can do it better in the next class with the tiem, you see that is why we have to always think about a plan B just in case something is not working as we expected. Good Luck Eli and nice work

  2. I am really sorry for you my friend, but remember that you cannot plan everything for a class because there will always be something unexpected. We as teacher have the responsibility of being focus all the time in every single detail that occurs around our classrooms, but remember that there are some situations in which we cannot control anything, so we face the challenge of improvising something, but those things are the ones that will help you to grow and be a better teacher day after day!!!!

  3. Wow, I don't know what i would have done in that case, but it was nice that you had continued the activity. That shows confidence and it is a sign that you have the control of what you are teaching.
