my second practice in the last period!!!! =D

Hello people…! Here I am to tell you about my second teaching practice with Technical English. =)
Well, today I arrived like fifteen minutes before to prepare the warm up and the presentation. As a warm up, I did the whispering game. I asked the girls to make two groups and I told them what they had to do. I explained them that one person of each group had to read a sentence that I had and then, they had to go to their groups and whisper the sentence. After they whisper the sentence to the person who was next to them, the person with the marker had to go to the board and write it. It was funny because they didn’t write the correct sentence.
After that, I continued with the presentation which was a short conversation about professions using the question “What do you do?” and “Where do you work?”  I had it already on the board so, I read it once. Then, I asked the students to repeat after me and they did it. Then, I asked them to write it down on their notebooks. So, I gave them time to do it. Later, they practiced it with their neighbor. They practiced it several times and they did a good job.
After that, I gave a photocopy to each of them which contained several professions and occupations. There were pictures and the name of each of them. We read them all and we repeat them. We discussed about each of them and where all those people work.
Finally, I gave them some controlled practice so they could do with the professions.
The feedback was good! My score was great! =) and I’m going to do my last practice this coming Monday! =) Thanks God! So….. see ya!

one of three..... =)

Hello people… here I am again…! Well, let me tell you that I taught on Thursday (finally). I’m teaching in Technical English. I arrived early, and I prepared the warm up which consisted on writing some hidden words between others. When the students arrived, and also the teacher, I introduced myself to them, and I told them that I’ll be their teacher in this period. After my greetings, I asked the students to stand up and make two rows. I told them that on the board were some hidden words. Those words were related with the house features and that stuff. I gave a marker to the first person of each row and I said a word that was on the board, and as soon I said the word, they had to look for it and circle it. I think they had a good time in the game because they were running, laughing, and happy.
After that, I had to teach a new topic which was “there is and there are.” I explained the usage in the affirmative, negative and interrogative form. I tried to explain it in a simple way so the students understood better and in an easy way. Thanks God they understood and they got the idea and the usage of there is and there are when talking about features of the house.
Then, I gave some copies with some exercises that the students had to do in order to apply what I explained. I checked what they were doing, I was answering their questions and doubts, and after that, we checked the exercises together. To be the first class I taught in this period, I got a good score. Also, I have to tell you that I recorded my class, so I already have my video. =)
In the feedback, the teacher gave me some pieces of advice about some students that do the exercises very fast. She said that she liked my class and that I did well! =)

game over!!!!! =)

Well, hello everyone… here I am the last time because today was the last teaching practice that I did with Intermediate English I.
I arrived early to the classroom, I was sleepy but when I began preparing the stuff for the class, I felt better and with energy. =)
Today, I had to teach about comparatives and superlatives, so I prepared some adjectives, their comparative and superlative form. I cut the adjectives and I pasted them around the classroom so the students could read them and have an idea of what the class was about.
I began with a warm up which consisted in giving a piece of paper that had a short paragraph to each student. So, I gave time and they were reading that paragraph. After that, I asked them to stand up and make to lines. They had to tell the person in front about his or her paragraph. I think they liked the activity because they were trying to remember something they read.
After that, I began with the presentation, they did an exercise of the book, and later, I began asking the students if they knew something about adjectives.
The students began saying different adjectives and then, I asked them if they knew the comparative and superlative of each adjective they were saying. I wrote some examples of adjectives and the students were helping me. I explained the usage of the adjectives, the comparison and superlative form and the students got the explanation (as far as I know… jejeje)
After that, I wrote some sentences using the comparative and superlative form, and also the students were creating sentences with some adjectives that I said. The students were paying attention to my explanation and I think they understood it.
Finally, I gave to each student an adjective and I told them that they had to look for the comparative and superlative form of that adjective in the pieces of paper that were pasted around the classroom.
They stood up and looked for what I asked them to. After that, I began asking each student about his and her adjectives and they were saying them. Also, after they mentioned each adjective, they created sentences comparing things or people, and they did a good job!
I hope I got a good grade. I think I did a nice job in the explanation. I’m just missing the feedback because I couldn’t wait for it. I had to go.
So, I’ll see you in the next and last period!!! =)

here i go..... the second time!!! =)

Hello everyone… I want to tell you that I did my second teaching practice of the second period today.
I arrived early to the classroom (as always) and got into the classroom to prepare the material for the class. I wait for the teacher and for the students for some minutes and then, I began the class.
I began the class with a well known game called “the whispering game.” I divided the class in two groups. I explained what the game was about and later, I gave one marker to the last person of each group. The phrase I showed to the first persons of each group was a little bit tricky because it was like a rhyme. The students had a good time whispering the phrase, and at the end, the students who had the markers wrote the phrase they got. Each student wrote something different and funny. I liked the game.
After that, I began asking about the frequency adverbs. The students began saying the adverbs and their usage. They were brainstorming their ideas. Then, I asked them to give me some sentences using those adverbs, and they did it correctly. Then, I asked them to take out their appendixes and work on an exercise. They were scramble sentences and I asked them to unscramble them. While they were working, I was monitoring them. I was answering some questions or doubts they had from the exercise. After that, I asked some students to help with the sentences and they read them.
Next, I showed some flashcards that contained daily activities. I showed one flashcard to one student, and he or she had to create a sentence immediately. They did a great job creating sentences orally and some of the students created funny sentences. Then, we checked a short paragraph orally. I asked some students to help with the reading and they did it. Then, we checked the adverbs and later, the whole class read the short paragraph at the same time.
After checking that paragraph, I asked the students to work in pairs and talk about what they do on weekdays and on weekends. They were talking about their daily activities with their partners. Then, I showed them a paper which contained a name of a holiday and it was “vacations”. I pasted that paper on the board so the students could see it and talk about it. I pasted some other names of holidays and they continued talking about them.
The last activity I did consisted in pasting some flashcards on the board, and I asked the students to write two sentences per each flashcard using the frequency adverbs. After that, I asked some students to read their sentences and they did it.
I think I did a good job because the students were not sleeping in class. They were a little bit busy doing some tasks. I couldn’t wait for the feedback because I had to go. I told the teacher that I will look for him later for the feedback and for my grade. Jejeje! I think I will get a good score. =) See ya next week!!! =)

Well, I’m back!!!! =)

I taught yesterday and I have to say that I felt really good to see that now my tutor teacher appreciated my effort and what I did.
I arrived early as always, and I prepared the material for the class. I began with a warm up which was really nice and it was the “Hot Can.” I asked the students to stand up and make a circle. then, I told them that they had to pass the can around while the music was playing. When I stopped the music, the person who got the can opened it and picked up a paper and read it. Inside the can, there were tongue twisters, and questions. They enjoyed the tongue twisters and even the teacher enjoyed hearing the students saying them.
After that, I began talking about movies, and I pasted some names of movies on the board and I asked the students if they liked or if they had watched those movies. We had some speaking time and after that, I asked them to work in pairs and give opinions about those movies. After some minutes, I began asking some pairs to share what they were talking and they did it. All the pairs participated in that activity.
Then, I began asking about something else like if they liked sports, or if they had had an embarrassed moment in their lives. Some of them shared their experiences. Then, I gave to each student a piece of paper with contained some questions and they had to talk about them with the partner. After some minutes, I began asking some students to share their answers, and they did it.
The last activity I did consisted on giving a piece of paper to each student. I pasted four pictures on the board and I asked them to write or invent a short story according to one of the four pictures. Then, my time was off and the teacher continued with the activity. =)
In the feedback, the teacher told me that my activities were really nice and I did a good job. The class was really nice. Also, I had some mistakes when I was talking but the teacher told me that all of us make mistakes. =) and I got a good grade! Finally!!!!!!! =)
